The details

Once a Jesuit residence, the Masseria dei Gesuiti retains unique features such as an 18th-century colonnade and two rare underground oil mills, offering absolute privacy among the olive groves.

When you step inside, you’ll find that the interior combines rustic authenticity and modern comforts with timeless elegance. The main hall is spacious and bright and opens on one side to the central courtyard with its 16th-century church and on the other to the main garden, where a swimming pool and relaxation areas await. This is a fab place to socialise with loved ones with a drink in hand on arrival.

However, on warm days, you’ll want to step out and head to the pool, which lies amidst fruit trees. The pool itself is heated and offers a lovely place to enjoy a swim. However, the covered loungers by the water’s edge alongside the stone benches and shaded corners, ensure there’s plenty of space to unwind in the fresh air in peace.

Back inside, the dining room, warmed by a large stone fireplace, is a lovely spot to eat together, while a smaller sitting room with a second fireplace offers an intimate corner for moments of relaxation. A modern, functional kitchen makes meal prep a breeze and the interior is completed by a TV room, a billiard room and an entrance hall with a handy cloakroom.

A truly wonderful addition to this marvellous stay is the stunning spa that sits in the heart of an ancient underground oil mill. The authentic charm of stone intertwines with contemporary comfort, creating an exclusive wellness experience. The spa features a Turkish bath, a heated natural stone Jacuzzi, a massage room and a Technogym-equipped fitness area. Elegant changing rooms and showers complete the space, offering moments of pure relaxation.

When night falls, there are four bedrooms in the main building. Featuring king size beds, antique stone fireplaces and thoughtfully designed wardrobes, each room is distinguished by its own subtle details - ranging from soft alcove lighting to delicate fabrics and serene colour palettes. Ensuite bathrooms provide modern luxury with double sinks, rain or hydromassage showers and even a stone bathtub, while private terraces, balconies and French windows frame picturesque views of the pool, countryside and historic church.

There is also space for guests to stay in the restored ancient stables, which feature four king size bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, set in a refined environment that preserves the original charm of stone and wood.

And finally, nestled within the historic olive grove, two exclusive rooms offer a unique retreat, including a suite with a fireplace and a bathroom ingeniously converted from an old oven. From here, glass cisterns provide charming views of the original olive oil mill, located just steps from the spa and gym.

Beyond the estate’s walls, Puglia unveils its most captivating experiences, offering you the chance to enjoy horseback rides through ancient olive groves, scenic boat tours, rounds at prestigious golf clubs, cultural excursions to Lecce and nearby historic villages, luxury car adventures and untouched landscapes to explore at your own pace.
