The details

Alma Grange is a beautifully restored five bedroom Victorian country home overlooking Cardigan Bay, where sweeping sea views meet the rolling Preseli Hills. Built in 1870 and thoughtfully reimagined by award-winning architects, this exquisite West Wales residence blends historic grandeur with contemporary comfort, offering a luxurious base for gathering family and friends in one of Wales’ most breathtaking settings.

From the moment you arrive, the sense of space and light is striking. Panoramic views stretch across neighbouring fields towards the River Teifi, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the wide expanse of Cardigan Bay. Whether you’re sipping coffee in the garden as the coastal air drifts in or watching the changing light over the hills from the comfort of the sofa, the landscape is ever present.

Inside, Alma Grange has been designed for both celebration and quiet retreat. Two reception rooms offer distinct moods: a generous formal living room with a warming log fire, and a cosier morning room perfect for relaxed chats, reading or unwinding after a day on the coast. For younger guests, the adjoining pavilion houses a dedicated play area, while outside a bespoke tree house tucked at the edge of the garden promises hours of adventure.

At the heart of the home lies a vast, beautifully crafted kitchen that links the original Victorian house with the contemporary pavilion. Bespoke cabinetry, hand painted tiles and an expansive island create a true chef’s paradise, complete with range cooker, induction hob and separate oven. The formal dining room, with its mahogany table, Victorian artwork and crackling fire, sets the scene for memorable dinners, while the light-filled pavilion dining space opens onto the terrace for more informal meals.

On warm evenings, head outside to the east terrace where a BBQ and pizza oven invite long, laughter-filled alfresco suppers overlooking the garden, the Preseli Hills and glimpses of the bay.

Five thoughtfully appointed bedrooms sleep up to ten guests. The master bedroom looks out beyond neighbouring fields towards the Preseli Hills and boasts a bespoke walnut four poster king size bed and a luxurious ensuite bathroom. The large guest bedroom is an expansive suite with a king size bed and stunning views across Cardigan Bay. Two well appointed twin bedrooms in the main house are ideal for children or friends sharing, while in the pavilion downstairs, offering a little extra privacy, a comfortable double bedroom enjoys peaceful views towards the Preseli Hills.

For those seeking extra indulgence, a Michelin trained private chef can be arranged for bespoke in-house dining, or transform your stay with The Alma Home Spa, offering restorative treatments in the comfort of the house. A hot tub can also be arranged by prior request, adding another slice of luxury to your stay.

Just a five minute drive from some of Wales’ most beautiful beaches, the coastal path and the vibrant market town of Cardigan, Alma Grange is perfectly placed for exploring Mwnt, Aberporth and Tresaith, dolphin spotting in Cardigan Bay, rounds of coastal golf and long lunches in independent cafés and restaurants. After days filled with sea air and mountain views, returning to Alma feels like coming home to something truly special.
