The details

This idyllic romantic retreat sits in the beautiful valley of Lamorna where a trickling stream winds its way down to the sea. This gorgeous studio is hidden in the trees near the edge of the stream and offers couples a peaceful place to unwind in a quaint Cornish village. Incredibly for art lovers, Birch Studio was once home to the famous artist Samuel John Lamorna Birch and you can still find his oil paint dabbed around the original oak door frame.

The open-plan living space is modern and bright, thanks to lots of natural light and its huge, high ceiling. This space has a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of modern amenities, and once you've whipped up a delicious evening meal you can enjoy it on the beautiful round dining table in front of the log burning fireplace or outside on the alfresco dining furniture. Also out here is a BBQ, should you wish to indulge in some sunshine grilling in the fresh Cornish air. Back inside, the open-plan living space also features a comfy sofa that sits next to a stable door and there's also a huge TV and a reading nook in the mezzanine above, where you can sit with a good book and nice cuppa.

When bedtime beckons, the beautiful bedroom features a super-comfy, big double bed and a huge rainfall shower for indulgent morning soaks. The studio can also accommodate an additional two guests on the sofa bed in the main living area - making it ideal for a couple of small children.

There are few better spots to enjoy your morning coffee than down by the stream. There's a bench sitting right next to the stream, so you can relax with the sound of the trickling water whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the splash of a brown trout or a kingfisher landing nearby. Guests also have access to a hot tub and a sauna, meaning you have the chance to unwind in true style. Hop in the tub with a glass of wine or sweat it out in the sauna, before retiring to the sofa to light the fire as the world darkens outside.

Surrounded, as you are, by huge trees, guests staying at Birch Studio are afforded a lot of privacy. However, despite this feeling of seclusion, you're only a short walk from the nearby beach and a cracking local pub - The Wink. If you wanted to venture out and explore further, the charming, picturesque fishing villages of Mousehole and Newlyn are only a five-minute drive away. And, after a day on the beach or eating delicious locally caught fish in a fabulous, charming pub, you can retire back to this reclaimed self-catering artist’s hideout.

Gorgeous location, secluded but close to amenities and a great base to explore Cornwall. Would highly recommend Sunday lunch in the pub. Overall accommodation petite but not crowded and had all amenities.

Absolutely loved staying here for my partners surprise 50th. It was cosy and so relaxing listening to the running stream, whilst soaking in the hot tub and the sauna was just the icing on the cake. This felt like our own little private spa getaway and we didn't want to leave. Thank you so much Charlotte, we will definitely be back! Ps.....i almost forgot...the hamper was such a lovely welcoming touch!
