The details

This farmhouse is full of rural charm and nestled in a peaceful slice of countryside on the outskirts of the city of Bangor. With space for six guests in three bedrooms, Brithdir Mawr Farmhouse is ideal for a group of friends or a family break. The farmhouse is also located on a tranquil camping and glamping retreat, with a mindfulness nature walk and a number of holistic therapies available on-site. The site also features a communal campfire, a games room, a solar lit woodland path and boutique facilities on offer. Add to this the miles of undulating North Wales countryside all around you and you’re able to rest and unwind in a peacefu setting, reconnecting with nature with the birds, bees and trees for company.

Inside, the farmhouse has lots of lovely, authentic touches, such as the oak beams, slate flooring and original, refined floorboards. This creates a charming atmosphere for you to rest and unwind in. Despite the rustic features, the home is supremely comfy thanks to wonderfully upcycled furnishings, thick Welsh woollen blankets and a lovely wood-burning fireplace.

The cosy sitting room is a great place to sit with a good book and a glass of wine as logs crackle on the fire. Get comfy with your loved ones and socialise into the night, or watch a movie on the TV in the evening.

The kitchen is nicely equipped with all the amenities you’ll need to prepare delicious feasts during your stay and features an electric oven, a ceramic hob, a modern Smeg fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.

Enjoy tasty meals at the dining table in the living area or, when the weather’s warm, dine alfresco on the patio. Out in the garden there’s a nice lawn where the kids can play as well as a spacious patio with dining furniture and some great outdoor seating where you can settle in for a drink as the sun sets in the evening.

Also outside, in a herb garden nearby, is Caban Marta. This rustic cabin sleeps two and can be booked if you need the additional sleeping space. The cabin is situated in its own slice of countryside and has a unique, funky wood-fired hot tub and a firepit, offering more ways to unwind under the stars. Further accommodation is available in the meadow including camping and glamping, making it an ideal location for groups and gatherings.

Back in the farmhouse, there are three bedrooms on offer. There is one bedroom that has a king size bed and an ensuite shower room for added privacy. This bedroom also features a child-sized cabin bed for an additional little one. The second bedroom has a super-king size bed and another ensuite bathroom, whilst the third bedroom features a single bed.

When it comes to heading out and exploring your surroundings, you’ll be able to stroll past native trees, preserved marshland and cultivated meadows. Nature lovers will be able to spot frogs, wetland birds, dragonflies and more, and days out at the beach are a must, with Ynys Môn (Anglesey) only a 10-minute drive away. You’re also perfectly placed to visit Eryri (Snowdonia), which dominates the skyline and is just 10 minutes away to the south.

We absolutely loved our 9 day stay. The Farmhouse was just to our taste and a perfect set up. We couldn’t have asked for more, nice quiet setting, great set up camping or glamping, we would fully recommend. Great location which was quiet but also close enough to the shops with a short drive. Brilliant to be able to visit a lot of locations within 30mins to 1 hours drive. Hosts were fantastic and nothing was too much bother. Thank you for our stay.
