The details

Set within a serene adults-only retreat, three exquisitely handmade Shepherd’s Huts – Wren, Peregrine and Curlew – sit quietly among a cluster of pine trees on the lower field. Each hut enjoys its own unique vantage point, overlooking sweeping views that stretch from Rocquaine Bay across to Lihou Island. As the evening draws in, the horizon comes alive with mesmerising sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean, offering an atmosphere of true stillness and beauty.

Designed with comfort and tranquillity in mind, the huts combine rustic charm with thoughtful luxury. At the heart of each is a supremely comfortable double bed, set against a wide picture window that frames the countryside and coastline. From here, mornings begin with the sight of rabbits at play in the field below, while evenings invite guests to simply unwind and watch the ocean shimmer in the fading light.

Inside, the interiors are finished to the highest standard. Fresh linen, soft towels and all necessary cutlery and crockery are provided. Each kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, fridge/freezer and everything required for relaxed self-catering. The ensuite bathroom in every hut offers a shower, toilet, sink and heated towel rail, ensuring comfort throughout the stay.

A range of well-appointed facilities enhance the experience. The Barn houses a games room complete with table tennis, table football, basketball hoop, badminton net and an array of board games, books and activities. A small locally supplied grocery shop provides everyday essentials such as milk, bread, eggs and tea, alongside indulgent options like ice creams, pizza kits, breakfast hampers and charcuterie boards (pre-order required). Laundry facilities, including a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board, are also available. For larger groups hiring all accommodation, The Barn’s spacious interior can be used for meetings, classes, or small events.

Just a short walk from the huts lies L’Eree Beach, a Blue Flag swimming spot with a summer ice-cream van, car park and public facilities. The nearby coastline offers secluded coves like Rocque Poisson with tidal pools, historic landmarks such as Fort Grey and its Shipwreck Museum, and charming stops including the Guernsey Pearl café, the Imperial Hotel overlooking Rocquaine Bay, and Portelet Harbour where crabbing and cream teas are a favourite pastime. Nature lovers can explore the Ramsar reserves around Lihou Island, wander wildflower-filled country lanes dotted with wartime fortifications, or enjoy guided tours and walking routes that showcase the island’s beauty. For the adventurous, activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking, coasteering and wildlife tours await, while St Peter Port with its local shops and bus links ensures this tranquil corner of Guernsey remains perfectly connected.
