The details
Enjoy peace and privacy a short distance from some of Portugal's most beautiful beaches in this traditional white-washed stone house. Follow a sandy driveway through swathes of fragrant pines to reach this comfy Casa surrounded by nature. The interior is open plan on the ground floor with a sitting, dining and kitchen area. Flooring is cool grey tiles and the aesthetic is modern and chic with comfort at the heart of the design. Large, low, comfy sofas sit near the wood fire for getting cosy on cooler evenings, or just take time out of the sun to enjoy the views through the large patio doors. A well-equipped modern kitchen makes mealtime a breeze, whether packing picnics for days on the beach or grilling the fresh catch from the local fishermen. There is a large wooden dining table to enjoy meals. After lunch maybe climb up the wooden ladder-style stairs to the mezzanine. It's the perfect pace to retreat in the heat of the day. While fellow guests enjoy a post-lunch nap, chose a book from the incredibly well-stocked library, sink into the comfy armchairs and enjoy the warm air as it flows by with the scents of the trees and the sounds of the birds outside. Beyond the mezzanine, a double bedroom is tucked away from the rest of the house and has access to a terracotta tiled terrace, the ideal spot for quietly enjoying morning coffee while taking in the splendid views from the front of the house. Two further bedrooms can be found downstairs, a bunk room the children will love and a pretty master with a door leading directly outside. At the rear of the property, the terracotta tiled roof slopes low providing a welcome shady area where guests find a sturdy wooden outside dining table and chairs. Its proximity to the sliding patio doors make trips to the kitchen quick and easy and it's a charming spot to while-away lengthy lunches or sit up late listening to cicadas and staring at the stars. The Casa is situated in the Comporta region of Portugal, which is known for it stunning beaches. Guests will love spending days on the beach where they will also find plenty of lovely bars and restaurants. Favourites include Sal Restaurante at Pego Beach, O Dinis Restaurante dos Pescadores at Carvalhal Beach, the best for Clams, and Comporta Café at Comporta Beach - where visitors swing in hammocks watching the sunset while sipping Negronis.
