The details
Arriving at Casale Madre feels like stepping into another rhythm of life. As you travel along quiet country roads lined with centuries-old olive trees beneath vast blue Puglian skies, the landscape slowly opens up to reveal this beautifully restored ancient farmhouse, set within four hectares of olive and almond groves. Here, nature, design and deep-rooted tradition combine to create an atmosphere that is both elegant and wonderfully authentic. Lovingly recovered by skilled local craftsmen, the casale showcases traditional materials such as ancient chianca stone, terrazzo and cocciopesto, all softened by Puglia’s earthy palette of white, terracotta and blush pink. Throughout the day, shifting light dances across thick walls and cool stone floors, creating a constant sense of calm. The only soundtrack is birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves, while the scent of Mediterranean scrub lingers in the warm air. Sustainability sits at the heart of your stay too, with solar panels providing heat in harmony with the surrounding land. The three suites each offer privacy and indulgent comfort. On the ground floor, the Almond Suite enjoys views across the almond grove and features a soothing Turkish bath and a small private terrace where you can unwind after a steam. Upstairs, the Olive Suite offers 50 square metres of light-filled space, complete with a freestanding bathtub positioned to overlook the trees. The Terrace Suite, also on the first floor, enjoys sweeping views across the pool and olive groves, with a sensory shower and a generous bathtub inviting long, languid soaks. Each suite features a double bed, ensuite bathroom, pool towels and thoughtful touches that make settling in effortless. Outside, the pool is a true highlight. Surrounded by ancient trees and open countryside, it’s the perfect place to cool off beneath the Puglian sun before stretching out with a book or a glass of chilled prosecco. A small organic vegetable garden provides seasonal produce for guests to enjoy, its fruit nourished only by rainwater. Enhance your stay with a Madre Breakfast box prepared by chef Luisa, choose from Light, Gourmet or Exclusive options brimming with local flavours. In cooler months, Saturday brunch and traditional Sunday lunch bring seasonal Apulian dishes to the table, while massages, yoga sessions and private dining with a chef can all be arranged. When you’re ready to explore, Ostuni’s whitewashed alleys and lively piazzas are just a short drive away. Browse the Saturday market, enjoy an aperitivo at sunset overlooking the countryside, or head down to the beaches of the Marina di Ostuni for a swim in the Adriatic. From countryside calm to coastal charm, Casale Madre places you perfectly to experience the very best of Puglia.
