The details

Amid this rugged and treasured terrain, sits a model of sustainable and eco-friendly living, blending seamlessly into the land. Colorado Hideaway is comprised exclusively of organic, reclaimed, and recycled materials, ensuring that your stay will be a guilt-free one. The local area is one that is ripe for exploration, with a stunning topography over 2km above sea level that houses valleys, mountains, and frozen alpine lakes. You can even try your hand at some cross-country skiing. Sleeping up to four guests across two bedrooms, the Colorado Hideaway is the perfect setting for those wishing to get away from the urban rat race and lose themselves in the tranquillity of nature.

Your hosts, and The Hideaway's builders - architectural designer Andrew Michler and artist-educator Jennie Kiesling – will be on hand next-door whenever you need them. They have beautifully designed this valley-side gem to include inspiration from Japanese jutaku homes and the concept of "wabi-sabi" – the beauty of the humble and modest. The open planned living area includes a dining table which looks out through gorgeous picture windows and across the adjacent valley. The small kitchen is well equipped and has two gas hobs for cooking. There is a comfy double bedroom, as well as a wet room with a sink and toilet. Upstairs is a charming chillout room with hammock netting, making for the perfect space to unwind. This room can also function as a second bedroom. Lastly, there is the "outdoor room", yet another place for guests to drive all their cares away.

The Hideaway has been built so that you have all the comforts you should need but do feel free to wander. Although the location is certainly rural, guests should not want for things to see and do. Loveland and Fort Collins both sit east, while the foothills of the Rocky Mountains are to your west. The region is a favourite with nature lovers and there are countless hiking and cycle trails. In the winter, be sure to try your hand at some cross country or Telemark skiing. In the late-Spring, throw on some snowshoes and wander across the frozen alpine lakes. From Spring to Autumn, there are numerous nature trails, perfect for families or couples wishing to spot fauna as diverse as mule deer, bobcats, black bears, and elk.
