The details

Set within five acres of peaceful woodland, this cosy treehouse is just a few miles from the picturesque seaside town of Looe in Cornwall. It’s built around an impressive 200-year-old copper beech tree with a supporting structure made from local oak and ash. Inside, you’ll find a relaxing and romantic retreat inviting you to slow down and unwind. Wake up to the sound of birdsong and enjoy a slow morning before a leisurely stroll to the pub for lunch. Put your feet up in front of the wood-burner or enjoy a soak in the beautiful freestanding copper bathtub after a walk through Down’s Wood or along the coast.

The beautiful timber used to create the treehouse helps it blend in perfectly with the natural surroundings and ground screws were used in the construction to avoid any damage to the beech tree. The same attention to detail can be seen inside with examples of local crafts and workmanship everywhere you look. The wood-burning stove was created in nearby Devon, while the logs that sit ready and waiting in their custom-built metal surround have been sourced from nearby woodland.

You’ll find Cornish-made Atlantic Blankets adding an extra layer of cosiness to the hand-crafted oak double bed. Snuggle up and get a movie going on the projector screen that emerges in front of the bedroom’s floor-to-ceiling window. Next door, there’s a hand-carved beech basin in the bathroom, complementing that roll-top copper bathtub and fluffy dressing gowns waiting for you.

The treehouse is located on the edge of Down’s Wood which you’re welcome to stroll through at your leisure, discovering all sorts of flora and fauna along the way. Stride out in the direction of Duloe and enjoy a pit stop at The Plough, or there’s The Copley Arms in Torpoint. The sea and the beautiful town of Looe, perched idyllically on the coast, is just a 10-minute drive south. You’ll find many more places to eat and drink in Looe, perhaps while enjoying the views of the fishing boats bobbing about in the harbour and out to sea. After a busy day exploring the local area, head back to your cosy treehouse for a soak in the tub and a glass of something in front of the fire.

Booked the treehouse as a surprise for my girlfriend’s birthday. Having looked at the photos and reviews I can say it did not disappoint. Since booking, the hot tub has been added and that was a very pleasant surprise. We were created by John on arrival who went through everything we would need for our stay. From the moment we stepped into the treehouse it has been one incredible moment after another. The views, the walk in the surrounding area, the hot tub, the bath, and the wonderful log burner all fantastic. This was absolutely the place to find the peace and quiet I was looking for. The whole experience was so much better than I could have hoped for. I would highly recommend the Treehouse to anyone looking for a weekend of tranquility. My girlfriend has said this was the best birthday present she has ever had and the perfect weekend, and she is the most difficult person to get to relax! 100% will be back!

We had a fabulous time, in the most amazing individual property. Really great to meet the owner/ builder - the most interesting and helpful host. The memory of being in the stunning copper bath, looking out the picture window over the beautiful rural countryside with live with me for a very long time. We intend to go back !
