Wow, just wow. You’ll be struggling for words once you arrive at Eliassen Rorbuer. The landscape is dramatic and beautiful, with steep mountain slopes soaring up 1200 metres into the air, the vast, blue sea all around, the craggy Reinefjord, and in summer a sun that refuses to set.
Based on the tiny island of Hamnøy, Eliassen Rorbuer has 35 different fishermen’s cottages to choose from, all picture postcard beautiful, with red painted wooden walls, grey roofs and white edged windows peeping out to the sea that surrounds you. Inside, you’ll find a cosy place to rest, whichever cottage you choose. Waterfront Deluxe Cottages are right on the water’s edge, with patio and outdoor seating so you can dine al fresco. Inside, you’ll find a spacious living room, dining area and a kitchenette with a stove and fridge, refrigerator, electric kettle, coffee maker, kitchenware, oven and stovetop. In the bathroom there is shower, toilet and hairdryer. There are two bedrooms in each cabin with different bed combination available. Other cottages come with views of Reinefjord, Hamnøy harbour or the land, with the sea only ever a one minute walk away.
From this spectacular location, there is so much to do and see. Chase the northern lights in winter time, driving with a local guide to find the best spot to view this once in a lifetime sight. Or, capture the sunshine at midnight from May to July, when the sun stays risen over Lofoten. Visit the picturesque fishing village of Reine, or take the children to The Lofoten Toy Museum. For the adventurous, take a kayaking tour or go deep sea rafting or even surfing. On quieter days there are also bird watching tours and fantastic places to fish.
