The details

This beautiful Victorian boutique hotel has gallons of charm, wonderful individually designed rooms and a rather splendid wizard theme on the lower ground floor. This is the perfect hotel for anyone wanting to explore London, whether travelling alone, as a couple or with the family.

Pimlico is a rather pretty part of South London and the Georgian House Hotel, tucked away on one its leafy streets, is no exception. It truly is a hidden gem and in addition to its quintessentially Victorian charm they have designed a lower ground level entirely devoted to the theme of wizarding. So, for all you Harry Potter fans, this is the place!

This Grade II listed property boasts a selection of individually designed rooms including their Tiny Single, which is light and cheerful with an iron bedstead, soothing colours and everything you could need for a short and comfortable stay. Or why not try their Victoria Classic quad room that sleeps a family of four and is also beautifully decorated?

In between you have standard doubles and the Belgravia, which is a little fancier for romantic getaways. Some of the rooms even come with their own freestanding bath tubs, offering you the chance to enjoy a truly relaxing, luxurious soak after a day exploring the city. The Wizard rooms vary in size and are accessed via a portrait-lined passageway that is bathed in candlelight and terribly Gothic! Each room has faux castle details including four poster beds, cauldrons, wood burning stoves and lots of curios.

All of the rooms come with White Company toiletries, super fast complimentary WiFi, late checkouts on request and tea and coffee making facilities.

Once you've settled in you might like to indulge yourself with one of their bespoke afternoon teas. There's a wizard option, that looks suitably magical, as well as vegetarian and child friendly options.

When it's time for breakfast make your way to the Pimlico Pantry on the ground level, a lovely space to start the day, enjoy the afternoon teas or just unwind and relax with a coffee. Their menu includes everything from pastries to a full English. This space also has a workspace, lots of sockets and a friendly team to assist with any requirements. Should you need something more private for business the Cubitt Room provides a meeting and events space for up to 14 delegates.

If you're visiting for the weekend you might like to book in a Wizard Potion session which takes place between five and six pm every Saturday and Sunday. Your ancient scroll will provide all the potions and powders to mix two rather fabulous cocktails (they do mocktails too so the kids can join in!).

Should you ever wish to leave this wonderful environment and explore the realms of London, you're in the perfect place. The Victoria Line underground runs from Pimlico station heading straight to the heart of the city in just a couple of stops. Whether you choose to wander the streets of Soho and soak up a bit of old London, hit the shops on Oxford Street or take in some art and culture on the South Bank, everything is within easy reach.

Borough Market is a short tube ride away and is a brilliant place to eat your way around hundreds of stalls – foodie heaven! For late night bites venture into China town and if you want to try something cool, visit POP in Brixton where you'll be greeted by dozens or restaurants and bars in shipping containers with some excellent open plan drinking areas.
