Enjoy a group holiday away in elegant yet relaxing surroundings at Gitcombe House. This Grade II listed Georgian manor farmhouse is located in a beautiful rural setting near the Devon town of Totnes.
Sleeping up to 13 guests it is perfect for family groups or friends get together. This large, self-catering home boasts original features such as sash windows, shutters, joinery, ceiling cornice, and pantry - all complemented by period furnishings.
Those staying enter through the portico entrance to the flag-stoned hall. From here is the large kitchen and breakfast room, complete with an oil fired Aga, electric oven and hob, American style fridge/freezer, L-shaped island, and granite worktops. There is a dining table and chairs seating up to 8 people, as well as access to the walk-in pantry. For a more formal dining experience there is the stunning dining room with extending mahogany table and chairs, French chandelier, and open fireplace.
Also on the ground floor is the living room overlooking the front garden and grounds. Here are comfortable, deep sofas and armchairs, open fire, and flat screen TV. Elsewhere the snug is the ideal escape for children and adults alike. For those with limited mobility there is a twin bedroom on this level, as well as a shower room with loo and basin.
The other 5 bedrooms are all found on the first floor. The master bedroom has a king size mahogany bed, views over the back garden, and en-suite with bath and overhead shower. There are 2 further king size rooms, 1 with a cast iron fireplace, as well as a twin and a spacious family room with 3 single beds. King size beds can be made up in both of these by prior request. These rooms share a family bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower.
Outside is a pretty enclosed garden at the front of Gitcombe House and a larger garden at the rear that overlooks the grounds and has a huge outdoor dining table and chairs and a barbecue. From here there is direct access to the outdoor swimming pool and the estate’s other leisure facilities. The beaches of Dartmouth and Salcombe are also within easy reach.
