- There's off street parking for two cars.
- Though shallow, the river can be fast-flowing so please be careful with children and pets, keep them supervised, particularly after rainfall.
- The crog loft is up a ladder and not safe for children under 10.
- Please bring your own beach & dog towels / blankets.

Tucked away in a hidden valley on the West Wales coast, dappled in sunshine, you'll find the beautiful thatched cottage, Glan yr Afon. As you enter this truly wonderful cottage you'll feel as though you've stepped into a different time. Think lime-washed walls, timeworn beams and stone worn smooth over the centuries past. It's a dream of a place made all the more wonderful by the modern amenities that create a luxurious environment for romantic couples and small families seeking an idyllic coastal holiday in Wales. It’s also popular with solo travellers.
The heart of the cottage is the wonderful living room with double height ceiling and exposed beams. It has an inglenook fireplace with very rare, original ‘wattle & daub’ hood housing an oil burning stove perfect for cosy evenings, though the cottage has full central heating. Settle down after dinner with a coffee and talk late into the night or curl-up on the sofa under the Welsh blankets for a movie night on the Smart TV. As well as Netflix the hosts have provided a DVD library of over 100 films for you to choose from.
The kitchen is spacious yet cosy with a wood burner crackling away as you sit and dine at the vintage wooden table. Fully equipped with everything you could need, including a dishwasher, this room has original quarry tiled floors, solid oak worktops and a Belfast sink. An absolute joy for those who love to cook and prefer an informal cosy dining atmosphere. Both the kitchen and living room have beautiful original doors which open out over the ancient cobbles so that you can enjoy the sounds of the garden or an alfresco coffee in the morning.
If you fancy a little alone time you'll be enchanted by the crog loft. Accessed by a wooden step ladder from the living room, it is a traditional Welsh loft furnished with a bean bag, armchair, a selection of books and a small coffee table. Curl up with a great book and hide away from the world.

On a sunny morning you might like to take your breakfast out into the terraced garden planted with beautiful bee and butterfly friendly wildflowers which will cast a spell on even the most hardened city dweller. A small river and ancient bridge form the garden boundaries and its a wonderful place to explore -there's a fire pit and BBQ where you can watch the stars at night. Glan yr Afon was wonderful. Our week in Ceredigion coincided with an unseasonably wet and unseasonably cold spell in the weather, but there couldn't have been a better place for us to stay. It was warm, cosy, peaceful, surrounded by lush greenery, inspiringly beautiful. The house and gardens have clearly been restored with great care and a keen, subtle artistic sensibility. It's a place of stylishness AND comfort. There were also some lovely walks straight out of the house, as well as plenty of places to visit a short car ride away. So it was a real pleasure, and a genuinely rejuvenating experience, to stay. We hope very much to be back again some time.
