The details

Millpond is a beautifully constructed cabin nestled in the Liddel Valley surrounded by wonderful scenery with a high-end, luxurious interior that would be perfect for a small family or friends seeking a stylish getaway in nature. This stunning hand-built retreat is right by the riverside and from the moment you arrive you'll be delighted by its location and surroundings.

The main living area is large and open plan with high ceilings and wooden floors. It also features a big cosy blue sofa and a leather armchair facing a toasty wood burner to keep you warm on chilly evenings as you gather together with loved. Spend your time here watching a film on the 42 inch Smart TV with Bose sound system, playing some board games or just enjoying some wine and a good catch up.

The fully fitted kitchen area is elegant with granite work surfaces and everything you could need from an integrated dishwasher to a Nespresso machine for that all-important morning brew. The range of modern appliances ensure that cooking a feast is easy and fun.

The wooden dining table seats eight and is a wonderful place to enjoy a long, lazy supper beneath the chandeliers surrounded by the stylish and artful décor, plants and a warm welcoming environment.

After an evening of fine dining, followed with a cosy last drink by the wood burner, you can head though to your luxuriously presented bedrooms. The main room boasts a super-king size bed made sumptuous with 700 count cotton linens and an oversized headboard, where you can snuggle up and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. The room has storage and an oak bedside table to pop your books and phone on, and in the morning you might like to take your first cup of coffee in bed and watch a bit of TV on the large flatscreen or open up the patio doors to the deck and let the fresh air in. The second bedroom has comfy twin beds, a French wardrobe and also boasts patio doors leading out to the deck.

When it's time for your ablutions make your way to the gorgeous family bathroom where you can blast away the cobwebs in the shower or indulge in a long soak in the freestanding bath. Wrap yourself in a fluffy robe and start thinking about breakfast!

If the weather is good you'll want to spend your time out on the panoramic balcony where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the river with the endless Scottish landscape beyond. Sit out there with a drink or sink into the hot tub and unwind in nature. And if you fancy dining alfresco you can make use of the BBQ in blissful seclusion.

Take a picnic down to the river and enjoy the stunning surroundings by the fire pit, or head out in the car and explore a little further afield. The cabin is very secluded but only 50 yards from the main road. Carlisle, rich in history, is only 15 miles away and you can head there to do some shopping, enjoy a meal out or find a nice bar. Gretna is only nine miles away if you fancy a quick wedding! And the Lake District is a 40-minute drive from your cosy cabin where you'll find England's largest National Park.
