The details
Perched in the rolling greenery of Somerset, enclosed with private gardens and grounds, Little Cheriton House is an imposing and impressive detached country house, available to rent on a self-catered basis. Private and rural, but less than a mile from the nearest pub, Little Cheriton House is a great choice for large and extended families, wedding parties and any other large group looking to spend luxurious and relaxing time in the county of Somerset. Cleverly designed with entertaining in mind, the ground floor offers a number of spaces to dine, drink and make merry. Choose between the less formal table in the open plan kitchen, or go all out with the eighteen person dining room and make a special occasion memorable. Although this is an authentic country house with an aga, there is also an electric cooker and induction hob, as well as all of the amenities you’d expect from a world class kitchen and a washer/dryer to ensure that you’re ready to hit the footpaths regardless of the weather. After dinner, the lounge, with its far reaching views out over the Somerset countryside, is a dreamy spot to sit with a roaring fore and post dinner conversation. Upstairs, sixteen guests can be comfortably accommodated between the seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, with an additional two pull out beds providing sleeping space for two more. Outdoors, all eighteen of your party can tuck into a barbecue from the charcoal grill at an extensive outside dining table, or merely sit around the fire pit with a glass of cider before dinner, enjoying the long Somerset sunlight and charming vistas. This is the sort of property where you’ll have little reason to leave the house and grounds, with stunning original features, ample space for different generations to work and play simultaneously, and a comprehensive smart entertainment system encompassing bluetooth speakers, a 55 inch Smart TV in the lounge, and WiFi throughout. If you do fancy a stroll, you’ll be pleased to learn that excellent pubs with great food, roaring fires and brilliant local ciders can be reached by taking a gentle stroll through the countryside. Reach The White Horse Inn in under half an hour, or push on to The Kings Arms for the full gastropub experience. Both The Old Inn and The Nog Inn are easier reached by car, but not far at all from the house. You’re also proximate to Hauser & Wirth, the one of a kind and critically acclaimed courtyard art gallery and venue space, while one of Somerset’s best restaurants, The Newt, is in nearby Bruton.
