The details

Stay within the stunning grounds of Longleat Safari Park, with daily entrance to the attractions included on open dates, at the beautifully preserved Deer Keeper’s House. This Grade II listed property, built in 1775, offers a stay steeped in history, surrounded by woodland and open parkland where herds of red, roe and fallow deer roam freely. It’s a truly unique setting that combines centuries of character with modern comfort for the perfect rural escape.

Inside, the interiors are warm and welcoming, full of charm that reflects the house’s long heritage. The sitting room with a wood-burning stove provides a snug spot to gather on cooler evenings, while the garden-facing snug makes for a tranquil retreat with leafy views. The large kitchen and dining area, with a table seating up to eight, is perfect for leisurely breakfasts or hearty evening meals with friends and family.

Sleeping up to six guests, the house offers three beautifully appointed bedrooms. The master suite features a super-king bed, a cosy sitting and desk area, and a luxurious free-standing bathtub in the room itself for indulgent soaks. Two further bedrooms include a double and a twin (which can be set up as a double), alongside two bathrooms for convenience. Please note, the master suite has stairs that open directly into the room, making it unsuitable for small children who might climb out of a cot.

Step outside and you’ll discover a large private garden with outdoor seating, the ideal place to unwind with a morning coffee or evening drink as the sun sets over the estate. You’ll also have plenty of thoughtful touches during your stay, including a continental breakfast on your first morning, and discounted purchases across shops and restaurants in the park.

With its rich history – once home to Longleat’s stewards, gamekeepers and even a wartime Auxiliary Unit – and its enviable setting within the parkland, Deer Keeper’s House is a one-of-a-kind getaway. Whether you’re watching the deer grazing nearby, exploring the Pleasure Walk or venturing into the Safari Park itself, your stay promises to be full of discovery, comfort and lasting memories.
