The details

Sitting perched on a spectacular cliffside, with 360 degree views of a breathtaking sea loch and the wind battered coastline, this refurbished crofter's cottage is the perfect getaway for those yearning for the drama, inspiration and romance of this magnificent location. This remote and magical spot offers tranquility interrupted only by the elements and the extensive wildlife which inhabits the waters, woods and fields adjacent to the cottage.

As the squalls pass overhead, enjoy the most luxurious shelter of Milovaig House which has a been refurbished to a superb standard with a modern Nordic-style influence. The exterior is full of traditional character and sits sympathetically against the jaw-dropping backdrop, while the interior has been refurbished to a superb style, heavily influenced by the Nordic-interior trend.

On the ground floor, there is a stylish and comfortable sun room. Light floods the room through spectacular floor to ceiling windows which also offer the most amazing views across the loch. Large, deep leather sofas sit on a rich Berber-style rug which in-turn lies on beautiful wooden floorboards creating a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing space. There is an additional snug area for taking some alone time and chilling out with book and glass of wine.

A modern and well-equipped kitchen provides the perfect place to whip up dishes using some of Skye's lovely fresh produce Fresh seafood can be bought from the local fishermen at Meanish Pier which is just a five-minute walk away. And the separate dining area has stylish chairs and a large table which sit next to a double sided wood burner, keeping the cottage cosy and warm whatever the weather.

After long days hiking the island, head up to the two bedrooms. There is one double and one twin room, both of which are immaculately styled with spectacular views, crisp linens, and plenty of scatter cushions to ensure a deep night's sleep with just the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep. There is also a family bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower which is shared by all guests.

Comfortable and stylish, guests would be forgiven for never leaving this particular piece of paradise and, with whales, dolphins, seals, and sea eagles all from the house all easy to spot from the cottage, who could blame them but there is nothing quite like getting out into this wilderness and exploring the island.

Wild swimmers must take an invigorating plunge at The Fairy Pools at Glen Bittle. Those preferring to stay dry can walk the many beaches from dark volcanic sands to white coral beaches, all within just a few miles of the cottage. Over at Storr, there are supernatural rock formations, and for even more spectacular views trek up the Old Man of Storr. For great meals out, try the Michelin-starred Loch Bay or The Three Chimneys.
