The details
From the moment you arrive via the sweeping driveway, Model Farm sets the tone for a truly memorable countryside escape. Behind its elegant Victorian facade lies a wonderfully layered house where historic grandeur meets relaxed rural living. High moulded ceilings, marble fireplaces and original wooden floors sit comfortably alongside rustic beams, slate floors and contemporary touches, creating a house that feels both impressive and welcoming. Designed for exclusive hire, Model Farm is ideal for big family get-togethers, milestone celebrations or laid-back weekends with friends. Inside, there are several generous spaces to spread out and come together. The main lounge is full of period charm and plush seating, perfect for slow mornings and fireside evenings, while a second lounge and formal dining room offer even more room for long meals and lively conversations. The light-filled orangery is a real highlight – a flexible space that works just as beautifully for group dining as it does for yoga sessions, workshops or dancing into the night. Catering for a crowd is a pleasure here. The fully equipped modern kitchen is designed with large groups in mind, offering plenty of workspace and everything you need to cook and serve with ease. For added flexibility, there’s a second kitchen in the beautifully converted cider barn, making entertaining and celebrations feel effortless. Sleeping arrangements are equally thoughtful. The house offers up to 11 beautifully appointed bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, six of them ensuite. Many of the beds can be configured as doubles or twins, and with several ground-floor bedrooms and bathrooms, the layout works well for mixed-age groups. Crisp linen and essentials are all provided, so you can settle straight in. Outside is where Model Farm truly comes into its own. The gardens are made for long, sociable days, with a natural 20-metre swimming pond, a large wooden hot tub and an outdoor kitchen complete with a log-fired pizza oven and gas BBQ. The covered loggia is perfect for summer evenings, while lawns, seating areas and games invite everyone to linger outdoors. Set in peaceful countryside near Bridgwater, Model Farm is perfectly placed for exploring rural Somerset. Spend days wandering the Quantock Hills, cycling quiet lanes or visiting nearby nature reserves. The Somerset Levels offer beautiful walks and birdwatching, while historic towns and villages provide farm shops, cosy pubs and local produce. With the coast also within reach for seaside strolls, it’s a wonderful base for discovering this varied and characterful corner of the county.
