The details
This delightful fisherman’s cottage tucks itself away down a quiet lane in the heart of Newlyn and offers couples a cosy bolthole from which to experience life in a traditional Cornish harbour town. Although recently refurbished, Newlyn Nookery is still peppered with original features like exposed beams and deep window reveals, all of which add to its charm; and with easy access to the town’s seafront, galleries, shops and harbour, the cottage creates a well-equipped and comfortable base for you to relax in while exploring the local area. Tastefully styled and furnished, guests have a lovely open plan living space to unwind in, and a well-equipped kitchen for knocking up delicious meals. Upstairs there’s a fabulous master bedroom adorned in dreamy shades of blue, with shutters to ensure those lovely long lie-ins. A dedicated workspace on the top landing is ideal if you need to catch up on your emails, although you’ll more than likely be spending most of your time exploring the nearby village of Mousehole, and neighbouring towns of Penzance and Marazion. One of Cornwall’s most up and coming coastal towns, Newlyn has a food and shopping scene that easily rivals some of its better-known counterparts. Restaurants like Argoe and Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar (though seasonal) serve up the freshest of locally caught seafood while Tolcarne Inn with its menu of locally sourced ingredients is a terrific place to wine and dine. If you love independent shopping, you’ll enjoy perusing Newlyn Cheese & Charcuterie, The Strand vintage store and the Helen Feiler gallery for paintings and jewellery. Marazion and Porthcurno are both within easy reach by car, or if you prefer to explore on foot, you can take a stroll along coast path to Mousehole in one direction or Penzance in the other.
