The details

Sitting on the banks of the River Dye, forest and moorland surrounds this unique property. The holiday home was born in 2012 after a set of derelict Victorian farm buildings were converted to become a superb escape sleeping up to seven guests.

Despite its historical heritage the cottage is modern, with fresh and stylish decor and furnishings throughout. The light and airy living room is home to a comfy sofa and beanbags sitting in front of the record player, television, and wood chip burning stove. Maintaining the environmental brief, this heats the entire house using sustainable techniques.

Elsewhere an open plan room houses the dining area with its long, sociable table seating up to eight people at one end and the fully equipped kitchen complete with washer/dryer at the other. Then there are the four bedrooms - two with king size beds, one twin room, and then one with a single bed. This ensures flexibility in the sleeping arrangements so all types of groups can be accommodated. There are also two shared family bathrooms.

Due to its amazing surroundings getting outside is compulsory and here guests will discover the Big Green Egg - described by many as the best barbecue in the world - and also an outdoor table and seating for alfresco dining. Then just a 50 metre walk down the woodland path reveals the Swedish wood fired hot tub, which is perfect for relaxing and unwinding with nature all around.

Glen Dye is perfect for getting out and exploring. There are miles of tracks for walking or cycling through forests and over moorland. The River Dye is a great location for paddling, swimming, or even canoeing on in the right conditions. It is also a brilliant spot for fishing trout. Yet the adventures don’t end there, as there are almost endless routes to be discovered on the Highlands, while the likes of Dunnottar Castle, Balmoral, and Stonehaven are all within easy reach.
