As the staycation grows in popularity, forgotten corners of the UK are being rediscovered, nowhere more so than the craggy rocks, and golden Atlantic beaches of the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline. This fashionable mid-century property is an upside down house. Children will love the unconventional arrangement of the downstairs bedrooms and upstairs living and dining areas while adults will never cease to be impressed by the wonderful views this arrangement allows throughout the day. A large balcony furnished with comfy outdoor furniture may well be as far as guests need to wander, sit back with a stack of awaited novels on one side and a pot of coffee on the other and settle into some serious relaxation.
The living area has comfy sofas and fluffy sheepskin throws and boasts a bookshelf bursting with novels. A fully equipped kitchen provides everything required for family meals or preparing picnics to take down the few steps to the beach. A large wooden dining table echoes the timber clad walls and floors which are used to great effect in the fabulous bible-black slate bathroom. Wooden features and local materials have been used to create a modern, stylish and enticing room. A candle lit soak in the freestanding tub is the perfect way to wash off the sand and sea water after idyllic days on the beach.
When bedtime beckons, there are three double rooms to chose from. The master bedroom, which boasts a gorgeous en-suite, and one other double have direct access to the pretty outside terrace. The third room is 'Captain Cat’s beachside bolthole', a wood-clad cabin on the middle floor.
Poet Dylan Thomas lived a short drive away at Laugharne and a popular trip is to follow Thomas' footsteps and re-tread his daily walk along the estuary. Literary fans can visit his former home and the area which was the inspiration for his most famous work - Under Milk Wood. The area has a rich cultural history and nearby is Pembroke Castle, home of Henry and Jasper Tudor, granddad and great uncle of Henry VIII.

Boris didn’t put anything on the green list… so a staycation it was, however, we didn’t feel short changed staying at this beautiful beach house. Waking up to those views in the morning was simply beautiful, the house was very well equipped and felt very homely. Some fantastic walks (the beach to the right of the harbour allow dogs - Rocky loved it and enjoyed a swim each morning) and some great spots to eat (I’d recommend booking early… some restaurants were fully booked weeks in advance) The Old Chemist Inn pub was good for live music in the evenings and Sue’s Pantry great for cakes! We had a great time quad biking at Ritec- Valley in Tenby, the off road trail was good fun. We enjoyed every minute and will definitely be staying again in the future!
