The details

This gorgeous cottage is perfect for couples seeking a relaxing weekend away. Nestled on a peaceful Norfolk farm and surrounded by serene countryside, it acts as a wonderful refuge to relax, recharge and spend some quality time with a loved one. The newly renovated home is just as impressive as its setting, beautifully designed and finished to provide the utmost blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.
Once the home of the farm’s resident goats, the shed has been transformed into a stunning bolthole, while still retaining original features like the high vaulted ceiling and exposed wooden beams. It boasts a spacious open plan interior, bathed in natural light by large glass doors that lead out onto the patio. One side of the room is home to the kitchen, dining and living area, while the other houses the sleeping quarters and bathroom, creating a layout that feels both sociable and indulgently restful.

The fully equipped kitchen is a real highlight of The Goat Shed. Fitted with modern appliances, generous worktops, a fridge and premium pots and pans, it turns cooking into a joy rather than a chore. Why not make the most of the amazing local produce on offer to prepare a delicious meal, enjoyed at the dining table or alfresco out on the patio on milder days? If you’d prefer a slower start to the day, breakfast can be booked in the farmhouse by prior arrangement for an additional £25 per head, where you can tuck into freshly baked bread, eggs laid by the free-roaming hens and bacon from a local farm shop. Supper and packed lunches are also available on request.

Next to the kitchen and dining area is the delightful lounge, with comfy seating, a TV and log burner. It’s a lovely spot to spend cosy evenings snuggled up in the warmth of the fire. When it’s time to sleep, retreat to the luxurious king size bed on the other side of the room. There is the added indulgence of a freestanding bath at the foot of the bed, perfect for a long soak, perhaps with a glass of wine in hand. A separate bathroom with rain head shower completes the home. Outside the cottage you’ll find the private patio, an ideal place to soak up some sun or savour one of East Anglia’s glorious sunsets. There’s also a fire pit to gather around as dusk falls and toast marshmallows under the stars.

The farm and its surroundings are waiting to be explored, with a plethora of interesting walks and cycle paths right on your doorstep. The farm grounds back directly onto Thompson Common, an idyllic area of the Breckland and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, teeming with rare plants, wildlife and prehistoric ponds. Also within walking distance is the 400-year-old local pub, The Chequers Inn, renowned for its hearty food and vast selection of real ales. Norfolk’s charming villages, picturesque seaside towns and historic stately homes are all within easy reach, as are the popular beaches at Cromer, Hunstanton and Brancaster.
