The details

Please note: Changeover days are Mondays and Fridays. This means it is a three night stay from Fridays or a four night stay from Mondays.

Nestled into the hillside and working with the natural landscape around it, this unique house celebrates the spectacular Powys countryside. The turf roof and low profile of the building make it as unobtrusive as possible, acting as a luxurious wildlife lookout. Huge bi-fold doors lining the front of the house mean you can enjoy the wonderful views from the comfort of your bed or the sofa. Or you can open the doors up to feel even closer to nature. Sit out under the stars in the hot tub late into the evening or run yourself a bath in one of the two roll-top bathtubs tucked away outside and soak up the views in complete tranquillity.

Inside, the space feels relaxing and modern with splashes of colour here and there chosen to complement the rich green of the surroundings. There are two luxurious double bedrooms on either side of the living area, both with floor to ceiling windows making the most of that spectacular view. There are two bathrooms, one is a wetroom with a huge rainfall showerhead and the other features a stylish pink roll-top bathtub. The bathrooms also have huge windows, so you can enjoy a shower or a relaxing dip in the bath while taking in the view.

The large open-plan living space features a kitchen, lounge and dining area. Open up the bi-fold doors and extend this space out onto the patio. In the evenings, light the fire pit and sit out as the sun sets. The stars will put on quite a show on clear nights with the Elan Valley Dark Sky Park just around the corner. You might also be treated by visits from some of the local wildlife, including badgers, deer, rabbits, buzzards and even red kites.

The location is perfect for keen walkers or those who just want to switch off from the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature. There are walking trails which take you from the front door and out into the countryside. You could also explore the area on horseback or visit the red kite feeding station and see these amazing birds up close. The nearest pub and shop are a short drive away, so while you’ll be in complete seclusion at The Nest, you’ll have everything you need close to hand. If you want to venture a little further, Ludlow is about half an hour away and is a great place to find a restaurant and enjoy a meal out.

The most perfect place to go to recharge and get away from the world. We felt at one with nature in a private while wide open setting with lots of wildlife to watch. Adored the rabbits and frogs that came out in the evening and the odd sheep peering at us through the kitchen window when making our food! There was a multitude of wildflowers surrounding the property so plenty of bees and butterflies. Everything is finished beautifully inside and the bed and sofa are ridiculously comfortable. We never wanted to leave. Will definitely be booking again & have recommended to friends. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
