The details

If you’re looking for a romantic retreat amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the South Downs National Park, then The Observatory might just be for you. This elevated gem is conveniently located on site of a beautiful converted cattle barn offering holiday stays, and offers couples a quaint cabin with incredible, scenic views.

This charming cabin is a cosy haven for two with a studio living space that features a nicely equipped kitchenette as well as a super-comfy king size divan bed. In the morning wake up and take your first coffee in bed gazing out at the view across the South Downs and the River Arun Valley. Enjoy a morning soak in your modern shower room, before heading out to seize the day.

The cabin’s living space also features a seating area, where you can settle in with a good book or an evening tipple. And thanks to the underfloor heating, you'll be toasty and warm no matter the weather outside. However, if the sun is shining, you’ll want to venture out onto the private deck, which offers a lovely spot where you can dine alfresco whilst breathing in the fresh country air.

When the sun sets, this is a wonderful spot to sit out and gaze up at the stars, making the most of the fact you’re sitting in a designated Dark Sky Reserve.

Head out on a captivating adventure and explore the River Arun Valley and the South Downs National Park. The valley offers picturesque landscapes, where lush meadows and vibrant wildflowers meet the tranquil river, perfect for leisurely walks and cycling. Discover charming villages along the way, each brimming with history and local charm.

The accommodation is amazing, the location is incredible and the host, Susan, is lovely and goes above and beyond to make sure that you have a great trip. The view from the accommodation is a particular highlight and the pubs and walks nearby make it a perfect place to escape to!

Susan is an exceptional host, such a kind and warm welcome. She is very knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice when planning our walks. The Observatory is beautiful, immaculately clean, the personal touches, cleverly designed and it has the most gorgeous views. Very peaceful to sit out on the deck listening to the birds and watching the bunnies. We stayed 2 nights, lovely dinner at the local pub, The George & Dragon. Many thanks to Susan.
