The details

Once the farm building used to house pigs, this five-star cottage now offers groups of up to 10 guests a marvellous stay in Lancashire. With grand social spaces and a wonderful and peaceful garden, there’s lots of room for you and your loved ones to spread out and unwind together in style. Add to this the spectacular views across the Cumbrian coast to the Lake District and you’ve got your perfect rural retreat.

When you arrive, gather in the charming lounge, where a stone fireplace features a wood-burner that keeps you toasty and warm all year round. Here, you’ll find giant leather sofas where you can enjoy a morning coffee and plan the day ahead. Another great social spot is the fab conservatory sun room, with its large windows connecting you nicely to the garden.

When tummies rumble, the huge, fully-fitted, hand-painted Mark Wilkinson kitchen is a real delight to cook in, and is another great social area for guests. It has a green Aga, gas hob, oven, dishwasher, full-size fridge and freezer, granite work surfaces, island unit, seating and French doors leading into the garden.

When dinner’s ready, serve it up in the spacious dining room with its grand skylight window. Here, a giant table sets the scene for long social dinners, and big glass doors open up into the garden.

On summer days, the private landscaped garden is a lovely place in which to hang out, whether you’re playing lawn games or enjoying a drink on the patio. There’s also a BBQ out here for grilling up some delicious local produce and a firepit for toasting marshmallows under the stars.

When eyes grow weary. There are four ensuite bedrooms that can sleep up to 10 guests. The original part of the house features two ground-floor double bedrooms, each with its own ensuite shower room. A short flight of three steps from the hallway leads to the newer section of the property, where you’ll find two spacious bedrooms. These upper rooms boast full-height feature windows and Juliet balconies, offering stunning countryside views that stretch all the way to the coast. Designed as family rooms, both include a double bed and a day bed. Each has its own ensuite shower room, with one also featuring a separate bathtub for added comfort.

Rural Lancashire offers a peaceful escape with plenty to explore. Enjoy scenic walks through the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfect for hiking, cycling and wildlife spotting. Visit historic market towns like Garstang for local shops and canal-side strolls. Discover picturesque villages, country pubs and farm shops offering fresh produce. For family fun, try Bowland Wild Boar Park or explore nearby coastal towns like Morecambe and Lytham.
