The details

The Rocket House was originally built as a terrace of six two-storey coastguard cottages in 1868 by William Atkins, a notable Irish architect of the time. Having been restored and converted into a luxury 4,500 sq. ft home with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms, it is located in one of Ireland's most beautiful waterside villages, Castletownshend. The property offers complete privacy and jaw-dropping views over Castlehaven and Horse Island from every nook and cranny. The Rocket House has its own Admiralty flagpole and numerous shipwrecks of great significance can be found just off the coast. If you're a scuba diving enthusiast, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better destination for your next getaway.

This is the perfect home away from home for fans of watersports, too as there are paddleboards and kayaks for you to use and get out on the water. If you're planning on travelling by boat, you can also avail yourself of the running and deep-water mooring found onsite. What's more, if keeping in shape is important to you, then you'll have ample opportunity to do so, thanks to the Rocket House's dedicated weights room. And, the property has its own telescope, so you can truly enjoy the clear, pristine night skies of rural Ireland.

Space is one thing you won't find lacking in the Rocket House. The property is home to an expansive garden with outdoor seating, multiple living spaces and boasts its own annex and conservatory, should you find yourself needing some alone time. With seven bedrooms and six bathrooms, this home can comfortably accommodate everyone, making it a fantastic choice for larger family get-togethers. Self-catering guests are sure to love the property's fully-equipped kitchen, which boasts everything you'd need to whip up a hearty meal.

When it comes time to explore your surroundings, you'll find that it makes for a fantastic hub for discovering some of rural Ireland's best-kept secrets. The nearby stone fort of Cnoc Droma dates back to pre-Christian times and is well worth checking out if you're a fan of history. The charming city of Cork is just over an hour's drive from the property, too, and it boasts plenty to see and do for visitors, no matter what their interests are. Cork City Goal is fascinating and the English Market is a must-visit if you're a foodie.
