The details
Superbly tranquil with wonderful views, Tigh Darach is a beautiful family holiday home designed by owner and architect Roderick James. Throughout the house guests will find everything furnished in a super stylish and clean finish, but with the cosiness of a true family residence. The house centres itself around an amazing communal space, which affords views of the stunning Sound of Mull. At the heart of the open plan living area is a wood burning stove and two large, cushioned sofas – perfect for a large family or group to gather around in to play games or read books by the fire. The main living space also includes a large dining and seating area, and a kitchen which comes with everything you'll need for a self-catered stay. However, if guests fancy treating themselves, there’s plenty of excellent restaurants nearby. Both the Whitehouse Restaurant in Lochaline and Cafe Fish in Tobermory are recommended by the owners. A beautifully bright, loft-style master bedroom and bathroom can be accessed from the main staircase. Here, as throughout the property, the rooms are finished with light white-wood panelling and there is plenty of storage space to put away clothing and hiking gear during your stay. Two other bedrooms (one with an en-suite bathroom) also open off from the living area. A further twin - ideal for children - can be accessed from either outside, the rear double bedroom, or the shower room. Children will no doubt love the secret door that gives access to the children's room, plus the swings and sprawling lawn areas in the garden which are fantastic to run around on. Adults will love the two outdoor verandas that run off the main living space – the perfect spot to enjoy a drink whilst watching the sunset. From the property’s outdoor grounds, guests may also spot Pine Martens and Swallows. Wildlife enthusiasts only need to head down to the Sound of Mull to find seals, dolphins and the occasional otter.
