The details

Tucked into the southern slopes of Ruberslaw, this Tiny Home is a beautifully crafted off-grid eco-cabin that blends Nordic style with clever, space-saving design. With panoramic views of the Border Hills, your own private lochan for wild swimming or paddleboarding, a private sauna and a wood-fired hot tub under the stars, this hillside retreat offers a luxurious escape into nature. Drop your bags off in your room then step out onto the deck and breathe in the stillness, as you watch red deer grazing nearby.

Inside, the cabin is packed with thoughtful touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It’s quaint and cosy, yet packed with modern amenities, this is a charming couple’s retreat in a truly tranquil setting. You and your loved one can get comfy on the sofa that sits opposite a wood-burning fireplace and giant glass doors that flood the space with natural light and offer wonderful views out over the lochan and the rolling scenery beyond.

The kitchen is nicely equipped for whipping up romantic meals, which you can enjoy at the small breakfast bar for two or sitting out on the deck overlooking the lochan. When night falls, hop into your private hot tub and gaze up at the stars whilst enjoying a glass of something delicious. You also have your own private sauna situated next to the cabin, offering a luxurious place to unwind looking out over the lochan.

When eyes grow weary, head inside and climb the stairs to the mezzanine bedroom where there’s a comfy king size bed dressed in soft bedding. The cabin also has a bathroom with a shower, luxury towels, robes, slippers and toiletries from Laura Thomas of East Lothian.

Outdoors, the wood-fired bath offers a serene soak for two, while the spacious deck is ideal for relaxing in any weather. Guests can cook using the Gozney wood fired/gas pizza oven, and a welcome selection of homemade granola, jam, marmalade and everyday essentials is included. When in season, help yourself to fresh garden produce and eggs from the hens.

Yoga mats, games, binoculars and a telescope are available for stargazing under the dark skies. Wild swimming and paddleboarding on the lochan are yours to enjoy, with equipment and life jackets provided (use is at your own risk and dependent on conditions).

If you do want to explore further, the Scottish Borders is full of scenic walks, charming towns and local food spots. There’s a journal at hand that includes personal recommendations, walking routes and seasonal tips to help you make the most of this stunning region.
