Explore the awe-inspiring Pembrokeshire coast using this traditional stone cottage as a base. This property is full of character and is just a pebble's skim from a sandy beach, making for an unforgettable stay. After long days exploring the stunning coastal tracks and watching the seals and puffins from the cliffside, head back to the pretty cottage, whitewashed with blue painted woodwork and a low stone wall.
Step inside and relax in the cosy living room, which is filled with comfy sofas and easy chairs. Wooden beams run across the ceiling and a soft carpet keeps feet warm and cosy. There are bookcases filled with novels and guides books and the walls throughout the cottage are covered in original paintings, prints and photographs by Welsh artists. A log burner creates a welcoming, warm atmosphere and adds to the ambience of this characterful cottage. There are plenty of boardgames for evenings spent together, enjoying company and relaxing.
Mealtimes are made easy thanks to the well-equipped modern kitchen and the large oval table which is found in the separate dining room. It's a fantastic place to enjoy candlelit suppers or lengthy brunches gazing out of the window towards the pretty garden outside. In warmer months, take meals outdoors and make the most of the lovely garden. A large wooden table sits on the stone terrace and there are a sun loungers for making the most of every drop of sunshine. There is a further lawned area surrounded by attractive trees, bushes and plants.
There are two bedrooms at Troed-Y-Rhiw, a double and two twins. One twin room opens out onto a balcony overlooking the garden and there are steps giving private access outside. All the rooms have lovely views and, if windows are left ajar, guests can enjoy the sounds and scents of the sea which is just metres away. On stormy nights snuggle under the thick duvets and enjoy a peaceful slumber in these calming rooms. There is a family bathroom with a large tub, perfect for soaking those walking muscles, and there is a further shower room for getting rid of the salt, sand and surf.
After a day on the paths, beach or visiting the ancient city of St David's, and its 12th Century cathedral, take a 15 minute walk around Dinas to the Old Sailors. Visitors tuck into local lobster, crab and fish washed down with good wines and beers. For supplies and more good pubs, The Sloop and The Shed, visit nearby Newport. In Summer months, visit the weekly arts and crafts market for souvenirs and mementoes.
