The details

Get closer to nature and surround yourself in gorgeous Clackmannanshire scenery at Brucefield Estate. These wonderful eco bothies are nestled in a beautiful forest and offer modern amenities, comfy furnishings and stunning views of your surroundings. Inside each bright and airy bothy is a combination of Scandi and Scottish design. That means birch and beech is used throughout, whilst the bothies also offer up beautiful Scottish artisan furnishings such as Amy Britton tweeds and Skyeskyns sheepskins. You'll also have organic Scottish skincare products to use throughout your stay for an added touch of luxury.

Each of the bothies sleeps two guests, providing couples with a glorious, romantic retreat. The living space features a stylish and comfy seating arranged around a Danish Morso woodburning stove. Here you can sit with a glass of wine staying cosy all year round, whilst taking in the amazing views through the huge windows that flood the space with natural light. This is the perfect spot for long chats into the night or a nice morning coffee (locally roasted) whilst plotting the day ahead. Or, when the weather’s warm, take your morning coffee out on your terrace and breathe in that fresh country air whilst listening to the sound of the woods.

The bothies also feature a quaint, but nicely equipped, kitchen area, complete with a hob, oven and fridge. Or, in summer, why not enjoy some alfresco cooking before sitting around the firepit gazing up at the stars? Back inside, there is also a fully functional, modern bathroom complete with a rainhead shower, WC, and underfloor heating to keep you toasty and warm in winter.

When it comes to bedtime, the bothies have a sleeping gallery that can either be set up with twin mattresses or a super-king mattress on Tatami mats. Guests can wake up to the peace and tranquillity of the woods before tucking into the delicious, locally sourced welcome pack that's provided on your arrival (top-ups can be ordered).

Environmentally-conscious travellers will be pleased to learn that the bothies were constructed using a fabric-first approach. This puts emphasis on the performance of construction materials to reduce the need for building energy usage. The bothy walls are insulated to today’s residential building standards, meaning they are cosier than the average UK home, which in turn ensures your stay has a lower impact on the environment!

When it comes to filling your days, you may wish to explore the 1000 acre Brucefield Estate with its variety of marvellous habitats including beautiful, semi-ancient woodlands of Scots pine, birch and oak as well as heathery heath, wet meadows and fields. These gorgeous locations support a rich biodiversity of plants and animals, many of which are of conservation importance such as the pine marten, red squirrel, green woodpecker, lapwing, woodcock, tree sparrow, reptiles, barn owls and bat species. Feel free to explore the estate on foot and take it all in with your loved one.

If you wish to venture further afield, the surrounding area also has lots of things to see and do. You may wish to visit the beautiful village of Dollar with its hillside Glen and Castle Campbell. History lovers simply must head to the Royal Burgh of Culross, which is a National Trust for Scotland conservation village with a bright yellow 17th century palace. Other historic sites in the area include Stirling Castle, the Wallace monument, Cambuskenneth Abbey and Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. You may also wish to visit some of the outstanding nearby towns and cities. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, St Andrews, and Stirling are all within an hour or less via car.

A truly magical stay! From the time I booked my stay until the day I left, I was so well taken care of. Victoria, Ania and Stephen are an incredible team. I was given the warmest welcome and just knew my stay would be unforgettable. The care and attention to detail, the passion and the enthusiasm for their magical spot is so evident. My stay in Brock Schenbothy was spectacular; a cosy, quiet, peaceful haven. The design and decor are so well considered and I had everything I could need at my fingertips. A super comfy bed ensured great sleeps. Sitting outside at night on the terrace gazing at the stars and hearing the owls was magical. If you are looking for a truly special escape that provides peace, quiet and beautiful walks along with a truly caring team, Brucefield Estate should definitely be top of your list. I know I will be returning again and again.

We loved our stay at the Schenbothies - such a magical place, quiet, lovely design features, and the most comfy bed to sleep in. Kitchen is well set up with loads of utensils, and both nights we cooked outside at the fire pit. We listened to the wood pecker, pheasants and barn owl each day/night. Our dog loved the smells and the local woods for walks. We hired gravel bikes and explore the farm shops and markets, plus the coast. We saw a red squirrel too. Highly recommend, and would go back. Stephen was a super star too - for check in, loads of tips on the local area, and sorted us bikes. Thank you. Jenny, Paul and Brodie.
