The details

Hidden away in a beautiful wildflower meadow beside a pond, made from timber and salvage, this pair of charming wood cabins are both straight from a story book. If you've ever imagined yourself escaping the modern world, leaving behind the emails, laptops and WiFi to bathe in the sound of nature then Albion Nights is for you.

The first original cabin sits on the far side of a six-acre meadow, which has a pond and is home to a plethora of bugs, birds and bees. Cabin One’s rustic romance will enchant visitors from the moment they set eyes on it. A beautifully crafted terrace has been constructed from local tree trunks which have been used to create the columns which hold up the ramshackle (but perfectly secure) roof. This cabin was also the winner of the East of England Tourism Award.

Inside, a wicker sofa draped with luxurious sheepskins provides the ideal spot to gaze out over the extensive landscape, alternatively, guests can hop into the outdoor tub and soak in the hot bubble bath, whatever the weather. Inside, the cabin has been lovingly filled with rustic fittings, always stylish and always comfortable. The living and sleeping area is nice and open plan and is home to a cosy wood burner, arm chairs and a kitchenette (equipped for simple suppers) and small dining area. The abundance of quilted rugs and throws make for a homely, welcoming environment and provide a lovely contrast with the reclaimed pallet and corrugated iron walls.

Floor-to-ceiling curtains divide the area between the sleeping and the living spaces and they are pulled back to reveal a large, bespoke, wooden double bed which sits underneath a lovely window which opens out onto more of the wonderful natural world outside. Above the bed there is a large skylight - so snuggle down under the stars for a wonderful, uninterrupted night's sleep. There is also an ensuite bathroom which has eco-friendly bathroom products and large, fluffy towels.

The second, newer cabin has a delightful L-shaped interior and was built using refrigerated lorry bodies alongside reclaimed materials, with pallet wood and scaffold boards for cladding. Cabin Two was also featured on the superb TV show George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, with George singing its praises throughout.

Cabin Two has an equally cosy living space, with a warming wood-burner, carefully chosen furnishings and plush textiles throughout. Add to this the super-comfy bed that guarantees a peaceful night’s sleep and you’ve got the perfect romantic stay for two. Cabin Two also has a delightful outdoor space, where you can enjoy a drink with a view and a deluxe ensuite bathroom with copper fittings and a rainfall shower.

An absolutely perfect get away. Helen was beyond helpful and kind. Nothing was too much. The cabin is something else!! Amazing. Nice walks near by. I would highly recommend. Everything was great! The walks, the peaceful location (good to watch birds), the locals farms and food, the outside bath and the wood burner. The cabin is very cosy and wholesome. Will come back in the summer. :)

One of the most relaxing breaks ever. The magic starts from the moment one arrives and is guided to the cabin along an enchanting route through a little forest. The cabin was warm, clean, and well laid out, with plenty of quirky (but practical and useful) features. The cabin is rustic in every way EXCEPT for the high efficiency insulation, and environmentally kind heating set-up. From the "push plank" style bed with fantastic mattress and linen, and easy chairs covered in throws inside, out onto the balcony with hot tub and down to the fire-pit and the two eating/seating areas, this is definitely a place to enjoy. A well-equipped kitchen too, so no need to leave at all. If one does want to explore, nearby Bungay has all you need - from brilliant local butchers and delis, to antique and bric-a-brac shops - as well as the "normal" places like Londis and a particularly helpful medium-sized Boots too. If one does want to explore further afield, Helen has put together a list of interesting and useful places nearby and on the coast, which is sent once your booking is complete. A lot of work has clearly gone into this well thought-out and presented offering. Thank you.
