You should know
- Guests are provided with luxury bathroom products and washing up liquid – all eco-friendly and chemical free. So please don’t bring your own unless they are bug friendly.
- The lodges are hidden on a beautiful woodland path and are a short walk away from the car parking area.
- A luggage cart is on hand to help you with your bags and can be pushed to your tent along the scenic woodland path.
- The Ivy and Meadow lodges have a treetop walkway connecting the accommodation, so if you are a family group of 10 people this could be an ideal option for your next group holiday.
- Book the whole of By the Wye can and bring 28 people in total, ideal for group glamping gatherings.

Tucked away in the heart of Hay on Wye, these safari tents offer you the perfect place to relax and unwind in style perched up above the forest floor. Guests can sit on their private deck as the River Wye runs past, taking in the marvellous views of the Brecon Beacons.
The safari tents have been carefully positioned to ensure you are guaranteed plenty of privacy during your stay. Each tent combines the rustic, eco-friendly practicalities of a campsite, with super-comfy, stylish furnishings to guarantee you an enjoyable break. These tents offer friends, couples, and families the chance to enjoy the luxury of a boutique hotel with the comforts of home, all under canvas.
Beautiful beds offer a great night's sleep, whilst roaring campfires ensure that you can stay toasty long into the evening. The tents even come with their own en suite bathrooms, that are complete with hot running water, a flushing loo, a power shower, and a basin. So you really are spoiled when it comes to amenities.
By the Wye has six different safari tents for you to choose from. First up is The Cwtch. This tent sleeps two adults with room for one infant in a cot. It has a delightful open plan living space with a handmade four poster bed that's straight out of a fairytale. The space also has an en-suite bathroom and kitchen, and a large deck extending out above the River Wye. To top it off, there’s even your very own wood-fired sauna situated on the deck, perfect for warming up after a dip in the river or for the brave - a cold-water splash shower!
The newest safari tent River sleeps up to six people and has adaptations throughout that make it accessible to wheelchair users. It has a fairytale four poster bed in an open plan living space, a double bedroom (wheelchair accessible) and a lovely twin bunk bedroom. It also has another large deck with outdoor seating and a fire-pit where you can sit with a drink gazing down at the river Wye babbling away below you. Parking is directly outside with ramps throughout.
Next up is Holly. This sleeps two to five guests and has space for one infant in a cot. Again, this property has an open plan living space with king size four poster bed, plus one bedroom with a double and single above. We booked this last minute and felt lucky to be able to get the dates we needed as the pictures looked great. Even though it is a bit of a rocky walk from the car to the tree lodge, both the lodge and the setting exceeded our expectations. Comfortable beds, stunning river views and friendly hosts meant we left after three nights with a big skip in our step.

Thank you so much. We had a really relaxing few days, staying in one of your beautiful Safari tents near the meadow. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the river and waking to the sound of birdsong all around us. We appreciated the well-designed simplicity, yet cosy-feel of the tent and the huge, covered balcony where we spent most of our time looking out at the river and watching our happy children wading and watching out for wildlife. A great location too - feeling tucked away in the wild yet only being a few minutes walk away from the town and its lovely shops, cafes & pubs. A very warm and welcoming place all round! We definitely hope to come back again soon. Dan, you were a great host too during our stay, so thank you.
