The details

Graig Wen prides itself on offering a fully wild camping experience whilst offering luxurious off-grid accommodation. On this award-winning site you can choose from bedding down in a yurt, or a beautifully crafted Shepherd’s Hut. All have magical locations on the Graig Wen site - be it tucked away in the glade or taking in the best of the views from the meadow and woodland. And with craft ales, marshmallows and breakfast hampers available at the onsite shop you know the owners have truly thought of everything.

With different glamping options available you get to choose how you’d like to live it up in this beautifully wild landscape. The Glade (Open March to October), situated a little away from the main campsite offers up a slice of tranquility. Here there are three yurts to choose from - Large Yurt (sleeps 5), Tommy (sleeps 4) and Blodeuwedd (sleeps 2 +2 kids). Or you can choose the Shepherd’s Hut (sleeps 4) which was a new addition in 2019. All benefit from wood burning stoves, cooking facilities and picnic benches and fire bowls. The yurts are beautiful with bright woollen blankets, wooden floors, rugs, cosy sheepskins and a wood burning stove. Blodeuwedd, named after a beautiful woman in Welsh mythology who is made of flowers but turns into an owl, also features a private outdoor shower for soaking amidst the trees beneath the sky. The Shepherd’s Hut is stunning - with a beautiful wooden interior, it is styled to perfection. All benefit from having access to the glamping washing facilities and compost toilet.

For an even wilder glamping experience, you can stay in Pop-Up Yurt Idris (sleeps 4). Situated in the meadows and wood of the camping fields Idris sits in a wonderfully secluded spot. Only accessible by foot, wheelbarrows are provided to transport your belongings - or you might be lucky enough to grab a lift in the owner’s off-road vehicle. You’re not totally in the wild though - you have your own private compost loo, hot shower and kitchen shelter.

Onsite, the shop is well stocked with local produce and craft ales from the local brewery. There’s also the option of pre-ordering a full breakfast hamper - or for a lighter breakfast, freshly-baked croissants and barista coffee from one of the best roasters in Snowdonia are available every morning.

The location is stunning. Located on 45 private acres on Eryri National Park and near the coastal resort of Barmouth and market town of Dolgellau means there is plenty to do. With walking, cycling, wild swimming and kayaking - there’s an array of outdoor pursuits. And for those wanting to take a slower pace then there are cafes, pubs and restaurants galore within just 10 minutes drive of Graig Wen.
