The details

Hare Cottage is tucked away in the countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in the pretty village of Finghall. This recently converted barn building is now luxurious accommodation for up to four guests with stunning views, stretching 50 miles towards the coast. After a busy day walking in the Yorkshire Dales or exploring one of the bustling market towns nearby, relax in the wood fired hot tub as you watch the sunset. The cottage is dog friendly with a large secure garden and there are also facilities available for bringing your horse on holiday with you.

The cottage feels welcoming from the moment you step inside with the exposed wooden beams, underfloor heating and log burner creating a cosy atmosphere. The open-plan living, kitchen and dining space feels bright and spacious with high ceilings and large glass doors looking out over the garden to the countryside beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped for anything from quick breakfasts to big post-walk family dinners. In the evenings, snuggle up on the comfy sofas in front of a film or a board game as the log burner crackles away.

There are two bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms and with lovely views out over the countryside. One of the bedrooms can be set up with a super-king size bed or two singles, offering plenty of flexibility for families. This room has a large bathroom with a walk-in monsoon shower and a beautiful roll top bath. The other bedroom has a luxurious king size bed and floor-to-ceiling windows, letting in plenty of relaxing natural light and allowing you to enjoy the view from bed in the morning with a cup of coffee.

The French doors in the living area lead right out onto the patio where you’ll find some outdoor dining furniture. The wood-fired cedar hot tub is just down from this, in prime position for soaking up the view. There’s also a lawn area where the dogs can run around and a raised decking area with outdoor sofas and a table, the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee in the morning while planning the day’s activities.

There’s plenty of exploring to be done in the area, from walking and cycling in the Yorkshire Dales to visiting castles to spotting the steam train as it makes its way through the countryside. There are lots of circular walks right from the front door that take you along the rivers, through the fields and with the option of a pub lunch along the way. Head into the Yorkshire Dales for more trails and yet more stunning scenery. Richmond is the largest market town in the area and home to a Norman Castle and the beautiful ruins of Easby Abbey, both well worth a visit.
