The details

Beside the rippling Escley Brook, in its own orchard, in the depths of rural Herefordshire, Kingfisher Cabin is the perfect romantic retreat. A covered verandah and twenty five acres of land to explore ensure that you will have near total immersion in nature during your stay.

There is also the comfort and cosiness of modern day living. A wonderful king size bed, gas central heating and a Merlin woodburner make Kingfisher Cabin toasty warm all year round, there is underfloor heating in the shower room too.

A hammock, zero gravity deck chairs, a firepit and a little jetty beside the stream guarantee you'll find a place to lounge around, resting, relaxing and enjoying your holiday.

In the kitchen you will find a gas hob and oven to cook up a culinary feast, and a fridge/freezer to keep the drinks cool. Outside a fire pit and tripod grill will help you roast your favourite food and keep you warm while stargazing.

The Cabin features a five star compost toilet "Treebog" with an enchanting view of the wood. There's no need to bring endless electronics, although there are plug and USB sockets, there's no wifi or phone signal (you get this in the car park and uphill from there). Instead there are games, a selection of good books and a small bluetooth speaker if you want some tunes while you cook.

You and your loved ones can also make the most of the extras on offer, such as delicious farm produce, including apple juice, jams, marmalade, chutneys for sale. You can also order home cooked meals and breakfast hampers! If you enjoy yoga, then head to the on-site woodland yurt, where you can enjoy yoga and guided relaxation sessions, as well as various types of massage.

Nestled in the foothills of the black mountains, the local area is renowned for its beautiful countryside, there are many spectacular walks to enjoy as well as swimming in the river Wye. There is some interesting culture and history to be found locally from the neolithic Arthur's Stone to medieval castles and churches and timber framed 'black and white' villages. There are also some great second hand bookshops in Hay-on-Wye, where you can read up about all of it.

A beautiful place to stay, peaceful, a river flowing past about 20 feet from the cabin, birds singing in the trees in the morning surrounded by trees no mobile phone signal no tv just a lovely place to retreat from modern life just rest in front of the log burner & recuperate the only negative is we couldn’t stay longer

A fantastic cabin. A magical setting and so peaceful. Cosy and comfortable, even in sub zero temperatures. Tessa and Dave are to be applauded for their vision and management, bravo! Already planning a return trip next year. Top marks.
