The details

Saltwater Chronicles is a truly outstanding retreat situated on a breathtaking 2,000-acre private estate along Scotland’s dramatic southwestern coast. Perched above a fairy glen cloaked in bluebells and overlooking rugged cliffs that meet endless skies, this extraordinary retreat offers a setting as poetic as its name suggests.

You approach the lodge via a secluded, tree-lined path that takes you through an acre of enclosed wild gardens, mature woodland and manicured lawns. A handwoven hammock sways beneath beech trees, while a private, lighted dock provides a spectacular vantage point for sunsets over the wild sea and rolling green hills.

Stepping inside, the lodge is awash with details that are designed to compliment your grand location. Socialise with your loved ones in the marvellous living room, which is flooded with natural light and features beautiful oak flooring. Sit with a book on the sofa or take it outside to one of the hammocks and relax in the sunshine.

The lodge also features a lovely kitchen, with all you need to prepare hearty meals during your stay, which you can enjoy at the quaint dining table inside, or on the incredible dining terrace outside, accessed via a short path. Here you can enjoy meals alfresco whilst taking in the breathtaking views out to sea over the bay. You also have another outdoor dining table right outside your door on the peaceful patio where you can also find a BBQ for alfresco grilling.

Back inside, the home’s three bedrooms are stunning, each offering the finest mattresses, luxurious bedding and bespoke design. One features a hand-painted tree-of-life mural and soft coral hues, while another is inspired by the sea, with vibrant bird-themed accents. The third bedroom dazzles with Italian canopy beds, turquoise highlights and pink-hued murals. Every ensuite bathroom includes a rain shower, soaking tub and heated towel rails.

Saltwater Chronicles sits on the private coastline of Dunskey Estate, hidden within the wild beauty of Scotland’s lowlands. This sprawling 2,000-acre sanctuary is a blend of luxury and adventure, with an Edwardian castle, chic lodges and panoramic views of land and sea.

The estate allows you to explore enchanting woodland trails, immaculate gardens or tackle invigorating hikes. For thrill-seekers, there’s archery, axe throwing, clay pigeon shooting, kayaking and paddleboarding. Prefer to unwind? Enjoy saunas, yoga or a Swedish massage.
