The details

Hidden away in private woodland in the heart of Northumberland National Park, Skylark is a treehouse that wouldn’t look out of place in a fairytale. Beautifully built by master craftsmen, this one-of-a-kind cabin is accessed via a long walkway surrounded by trees, has two levels inside and even a turret. You’ll be able to take in the stunning scenery from the copper bath on the large deck outdoors, raised high off the woodland floor and stargaze late into the night gathered around the firepit. Inside, you’ll find plenty of luxuries, including a king size bed, fully equipped bathroom and a wood-burning stove.

As you approach the treehouse, the first thing you’ll see is the fairytale turret emerging through the trees. Walk up the long walkway or up the spiral staircase to the front door and you’ll find yourself high above the floor and amongst the trees. The interior is a cosy hideaway with central heating and a wood burner to keep you warm at any time of year.

The kitchen and dining space is filled with natural light thanks to the large sliding glass doors that lead out onto the deck. It’s fully equipped with everything you’ll need to rustle up tasty meals or prepare food for the BBQ outside and even has a dishwasher. You’ll be able to sit at the table in front of the sliding doors or out on the deck and enjoy the view as you tuck into your meals.

You’ll find the bedroom in the turret with woodland views on all sides and luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding on the king size bed. If you’re bringing the kids along, there’s a mezzanine area with two small single beds. Fluffy towels and toiletries will be waiting for you in the shower room and there’s also a freestanding copper bath in a covered spot out on the deck. After a long walk in Northumberland’s beautiful countryside, relax with a glass of bubbles in the bath as evening draws in around you.

If you can tear yourself away from your secluded hideaway, there’s plenty of exploring to be done in the local area. The treehouse is set in the Hesleyside Estate in the heart of the Northumberland National Park. This means you’ll have 4,000 acres of beautiful countryside and woodland on your doorstep, perfect for a whole host of outdoor activities including hiking and biking. You can head southward and discover Roman ruins along Hadrian’s Wall or out to the coast to discover vast beaches and ancient castles. Any keen stargazers might want to book a trip to Kielder Observatory and make the most of the fantastic dark skies in the area. You’ll be able to take what you’ve learned back to the treehouse where you’ll find a stargazing kit with a telescope.
