The details

Stargazers Wagon started life in the circus but now sits in the calm of an ancient wild meadow in Herefordshire. Panoramic views of fields and woodland slope gently away before you. On clear nights it’s a perfect location for stargazing.

A decking platform surrounding the wagon means you can catch the sun at different times of day. Full-length doors can be opened onto the decking. Light a BBQ on a summer evening and eat outside at the wooden picnic table. For a winter getaway or cooler evenings, the cosy living room is equipped with a wood-burning stove.

Stargazers Wagon is the perfect place to unplug from everyday life. Completely off-the-grid, with solar-powered electric lighting, the only appliance is a radio. Put the copper kettle on the hob and wake up with coffee on the decking, watching the morning sun across the meadow.

The wood-fired hot tub just in front of the wagon is a unique place to relax. You can gaze out at an uninterrupted view of the Herefordshire countryside, or watch the stars at night with a drink in hand.

The wagon is made up of a long living space with kitchen, dining table, sofa, and wood-burning stove. Firewood is supplied free of charge. There are USB points for charging mobile phones, or unplug completely and enjoy the board games, binoculars, or guitar.

The separate bedroom has a generous double bed and porthole window. Bed linen, towels, and bathrobes are provided. A shower and composting toilet are in a separate washroom outside, linked to the wagon by wooden decking.

The kitchen area is equipped with utensils, herbs and spices, and a gas hob. Request a home-cooked meal to be prepared for your arrival, or a selection of local ciders to enjoy in the evening. The fridge freezer is in an outhouse nearby and a BBQ is available on request.

The beautiful Herefordshire countryside is ideal for walking, and a number of footpaths begin close to the Stargazers Wagon. Head to the ancient hill fort of Croft Ambrey for views across the county.

Hire canoes locally and get out on the River Wye, or try outdoor activities like quad biking or raft building at Oaker Wood Leisure.

Spend a day browsing the bookshops of Hay-on-Wye, visit the local farmer’s market in Ludlow, or try local award-winning organic cider from Dunkertons Cider Mill. The Bateman Arms comes recommended by the owners for its good food, and is a 20 minute walk away in nearby Shobdon village.

Perfect spot to bring in the New Year. Big sky, silent surround and a cosy log burner - loved it
