The details

Hidden away on a 290 acre sheep and cattle farm in Mid-Wales, these three luxurious pods have been cleverly designed to sit unobtrusively in their stunning surroundings. Built into the rolling hillside and with their grass roofs seamlessly blending into the landscape, you won’t spot them until you’re on the doorstep. On the other side of the pods, big glass doors overlook the Dyfi Estuary and Aberdovey village below and you can enjoy the scenery from the hot tub out on the patio. After a day at the beach, strolling through the beautiful Welsh countryside or even striding up one of Snowdonia’s mountains, put your feet up in your cosy bolthole and soak up the peace and quiet.

There are three pods to choose from, all beautifully furnished and with fantastic views. Pod 1 or ‘Nyth Y Wennol’ is the largest, with two bedrooms featuring king size beds and ensuite shower rooms. The living space is a contemporary, open-plan area with a kitchen equipped with everything from an induction hob to a dishwasher. You can choose to eat indoors at the table set in front of the big windows, or outdoors on the glass-fronted patio, enjoying the scenery whatever the weather. In the evening, after a sunset dip in the hot tub, snuggle up in the living space and get stuck into a game of cards or a board game.

Pods 2 and 3 or ‘Barcud Coch’ and ‘Robin Goch’, both have one bedroom with a king size bed. There are separate shower rooms with fluffy towels and robes waiting, as well as toiletries and underfloor heating for an added touch of luxury. In the open-plan living rooms, you’ll find big comfy L-shaped velvet sofa beds that can accommodate another guest or another two guests on request. These pods also have big glass-fronted patio areas overlooking Aberdovey and the Cambrian mountains beyond.

If you can tear yourselves away from your cosy hideaway, there’s plenty of exploring to be done in the area. Aberdovey itself is a charming village set on the banks of the River Dyfi Estuary with pretty houses perched right up to the water’s edge. Stroll down to the beach and the harbour area to watch the boats bobbing about and perhaps try your hand at some watersports like paddleboarding and windsurfing. Go for long walks amidst the beautiful countryside of Mid-Wales or head to Snowdonia to climb one of the famous peaks or hike to the Dolgoch Falls. For a more leisurely way to enjoy the scenery, hop on the Talyllyn Railway’s steam train enjoying the view and stopping off at rural villages along the way.

Absolutely stunning! I am so glad I booked The Willow Hill for my partners birthday surprise, it was perfect. The lodges are beautiful, situated in the most gorgeous hill top overlooking the sea and the estuary. Our lodge "Robin Goch" was so clean, so tidy and so beautifully presented, I want to go back! The owners even went to the trouble of gifting us a gorgeous candle due to their being a fault in the room (which didn't affect our stay I must say), they went above and beyond! Would highly recommend staying here to anyone and everyone, perfect location, quirky, great hot tub, 5 stars!!
