The details

Zinc at the Long Barn offers a unique and memorable stay, combining authentic textures of bare materials, such as stone, slate, zinc and cedar, alongside modern facilities that offer a touch of luxury. Zinc has been designed with sustainability in mind and sits within nine acres of beautiful grounds that you and your four-legged friends will just love exploring.

This charming space allows you and your family to reconnect and features awe-inspiring and intriguing rustic-industrial elements that are sure to wow.

The large, open plan living area has super high ceilings that add to the spacious feel. The lounge has a pair of beautiful leather Chesterfield sofas that sit around the wood burning stove. This is the ideal spot to sit with a good book or watch a movie on the smart TV, which comes with Netflix. Off the lounge is the dining area, which has a lovely, rustic dining table that seats six. Zinc’s kitchen is supremely stylish, with blue units, white worktops and a brick feature wall. It is also nicely equipped with modern appliances to make meal preparation a breeze.

When bedtime beckons, Zinc has three bedrooms, with two on the ground floor. The first bedroom has a king size bed, an ensuite shower room and French doors that open up onto the patio outside. The second bedroom on the ground floor features two twin beds and a work desk. Upstairs, the third bedroom has zip link large single beds, which can be combined to create a super-king size bed. This room also has an ensuite. There’s a further family bathroom upstairs with a beautiful bath and a spacious shower.

Guests staying at Zinc will want to explore the marvellous grounds that surround them. Nearly every tree, hedge and flower has been planted by the owners, creating a peaceful haven to reconnect with nature. Wander through the wood alongside the stream, play together in the fields, relax beside the large pond or picnic on one of the picnic tables that are dotted throughout the grounds.

If you wish to venture further afield, you can explore the marvellous attractions of Pembrokeshire. You’re on the outskirts of Haverfordwest, so you’re only a few minutes’ drive from supermarkets and shops for essentials. The two mile stretch of golden sands of Newgale is only eight miles away and is perfect for a walk with your dog or for water sports. Other highly recommended Pembrokeshire treasures include St. Davids, Solva, Barafundle Bay, National Trust’s Stackpole and the Pembrokeshire coast path.

From the moment we stepped into the property we knew we were going to be staying in a very special place. Zinc is beautifully decorated and full of quirky details. All the bedrooms are well proportioned and so comfortable. The bathrooms are terrific with great showers and baths. The beds are really very comfortable. In the kitchen there is everything you need for feeding the troops. A really lovely touch was the apple crumble cake that Karen had baked for us together with dog treats for our dog Presley who gave them the paws up! The living area is well furnished with dining table and chairs and bench. There are wonderful chesterfield sofas to watch the flames in the highly efficient log burner or to take in all the wall decorations. Upstairs is a bedroom with bath and a mezzanine area to chill out in. Again beautifully furnished. The whole barn was absolutely spotlessly clean. As the weather wasn’t great we didn’t get to use the outside space much but it was very impressive and I guess we will just have to come back in better weather. That said the circular walk was very well used and Presley particularly enjoyed mooching along by the lake and the river. Zinc is really well positioned for seeing all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. Whilst there we visited St David’s, Solva, Newgale, Pembroke, Bosherston, Tenby and a Haverfordwest. Rob and Karen were outstanding hosts and gave great advice for our stay with their barn guide and take away suggestion. All in all we had a wonderful stay. We would love to come back and thoroughly recommend Zinc.

Beautifully decorated and exquisitely maintained accommodation. The welcome pack was excellent, both in terms of the information provided on the local area, and also the delicious cakes, chutney and chocolate provided for us - including home made dog treats. Highly recommended.
